One of the surest morsels of sound advice given to budding young typewriter tappers is “write about what you know.” If only more rock ‘n’ roll bands adhered to such guidelines in their particular line of work, instead of trying to act like a buncha flashy badass bigshots when we all know most of ’em revert back to their natural state of plain ol’ dullards and dorks the instant they step off the stage. I’ve never taken too kindly to posers, and maybe that’s one reason I’m rooting for Two Cow Garage to turn some ears with this new record of theirs. So many bands I hear – and this includes the supposedly down-to-earth “roots rock” twangbang bushel-basket into which Two Cow Garage invariably find themselves dumped -- come off sorta corny or forced or full o’ shite or all-too-often just unredeemably gawdawful from the get-go.

Champagne Charlie
"...Champagne Charlie has taken root in the naugahyde covered barstools of Denver's seediest bars. They are a band that grew both musically and lyrically despite, or maybe due to, dimly lit rooms, and the smell of stale beer combined with sour bar towels. Manifestation artistique, originally a four member band, their numbers have grown to seven or more depending on the night. Like Chicago Cabaret, Champagne Charlie fully embraces a larger band ensemble, believing "the more the better." Playing a dozen different instruments, the band combines elements of Jazz, Blues, Waltz, and Americana to create their own style of Dark Denver Cabaret music. With several members being multi-instrumentalists, rhythm and melodies intermingle as one instrument is set down and another is picked up. While the band plays a drinking man's music, Ryan "Peepers" King sings with the gravelly delight of a parched throat encased in a sailor's bones about love, loss, damnation, and a lack of forgiveness."-ListenUpDenver

Anchor Point lubricates your evening; a shot of whiskey without a chaser. Raw throats and sore shoulders from fist pumps should be expected the next day after their shows, along with melodies running through your head as unshakeable as your hangover. Forming in August 2010, Anchor Point, as a relatively young Denver band, has already managed to build a solid reputation as a dynamic live act and released their debut, the Eugune E.P., in March 2011; a 5 song ode to gruff, anthemic punk rock. Pack up a carful of friends, conceal your flask, and head out to a show as soon as possible.
