Slim Cessna's Auto Club
Slim Cessna's Auto Club
From Denver, Colorado comes Slim Cessna's Auto Club. Led by Slim Cessna himself, he and his band of old traditionalists have been around in one form or another since 1993. Performing in area dives and opening up shows for Johnny Cash, Cracker, and Kristen Hersh. The sound is classic country there's no doubt about it. Elements of rock and bluegrass seep through in the performance but this ain't no ya'll-ternative act--this music will have meaning for years to come. Slim delivers his lyrics with the fervor of a gospel choir. He explains, "I don't know if the Bible is true or not, but Jesus and Satan have becomes like family." SCAC just released their third recording "Always Say Please and Thank You" on Alternative Tentacles Records. So how does a country band find a home in a record company that is the starting place of the Butthole Surfers, Alice Donut and The Dead Kennedy's? Former Dead Kennedy front-man and Alternative Tentacles leader sums it up like this: "This is the country band that plays at the bar at the end of the world."

Wymond Miles
Wymond Miles
Four years ago Wymond Miles, guitar player and songwriter in San Francisco's The Fresh & Onlys, began writing solo material thematically based on the concepts of eschatology, anthroposophy, and Gnostic and Hermetic symbolism. Drawing from a vast musical pool of inspiration, including Scott Walker, Robert Wyatt, Arvo Part, and Nikki Sudden amongst others, Earth Has Doors is Miles' first solo release. Since beginning Miles had basically shelved these songs to attend school, focus on fatherhood, and commit to the demanding schedule of the F&O's. He earned a degree in humanities with an emphasis on the philosophical implications of the ecological/economic crisis of our times, and that subject matter can be traced throughout his first EP. These songs concisely yet esoterically document the existential crisis of our current epoch — moving from the nothingness of modern materialism, fragmented reductionist thought, and drug escapism to a world imbued with subjectivity and meaning through a new relationship with the Earth and cosmos as alive and full of inherent intelligence.
Reverend Red
Reverend Red
From the dirty parts of LA County comes a band who is playing music that has been said to be unlike anything else on the scene, but modestly admit that they are just a small part of the new-roots movement. They are an "up and coming band with something to offer" and their fan growth and strong gig resume is proof of just that.

The people who make up the band Reverend Red are wild beast of veteran performers and they will demand your attention and participation. They bring theatrics to the stage and are not afraid to put themselves out there for the audience. Their shows have been described by the press as captivating, mesmerizing, and best of all enjoyable.

The band blends styles from each members significantly different background. The overall vision however was to bring "Gothic Americana" styled music (i.e. Murder by Death, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Those Poor Bastards, Goddamn Gallows, Legendary Shack Shakers, and 16 horsepower) to Southern California and put their own "LA" inspired spin on the whole concept. Due to their blend of music the band has been able to share a bill with Rock, Alt. Country, Punk, Indie, Dark-Folk, Garage, and other various styles of bands.
