BAND
Redline Defiance

RedLine Defiance went to the top with their 2005 debut, “LAST OF THE CELLOPHANE” , A catchier-than-average 12 TRACK LP that helped make these Littleton, Colorado, boys one of the most beloved bands on MySpace. On “LAST OF THE CELLOPHANE” RedLine Defiance uped the drama-punk ante, channeling tricky rhythms, shimmery soft parts and a metal-schooled dual-ax attack into songs that are both action-packed and gratuitously stylized. The busy music suits the controlled agonizing of Mike Kellogg, who alternates between little-lost-boy murmur and chorus-driving yowl on darkly catchy barnburners like “The Big Show.” “Last of the Cellophane” plows through metal-march power chords, a desperate call-and-response chorus and a tense half-time breakdown before giving way to the symphonic-splashed mood music of the closing “Not A Worry.” This combination of grand ambitions and gut-level emotional impact should keep RedLine Defiance’s online-friends list healthy for years to come.
