Born in Havana, Cuba 1983. Gonzalez now lives in Baltimore, Maryland, where he has lived for close to 5 years. His work has been featured in the online publication Fake Magazine from the Netherlands, Elena Johnston’s collection of Baltimore Illustrators La La Land, and currently shows work at the Emma Thomas Gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the past few years Gonzalez has been involved in many different musical projects as well, including starting the short-lived band Cache Cache (myspace.com/wearetropics), which unfortunately disbanded weeks before playing SXSW in 2007, forcing Gonzalez to come up with an entirely new set a week before the show with friend and bandmate Jared Paolini. The songs performed at the Carpark showcase in Austin, Texas were never recorded, however a sketch of one song recorded on a 4-track Tape recorder is the only recording of the two that exists and is featured in the Wham City Box #1 Compilation under the name of Tropics. Gonzalez has also produced music for The Ruby Stallion Ensemble (myspace.com/therubystallionensemble). Lesser’s current projects include The Tall Grass (myspace.com/thetallgrass) which recently finished their second album “Migration”, the follow up to 2007’s “Look out clouds, here we come”, and his solo project of acoustic guitar-driven folk songs described as a close parallel to his visual art (myspace.com/lessergonzalezalvarez). Gonzalez has recently compiled these songs into an album entitled “Why is bear billowing?” scheduled for release on Carpark Records, August 19th, 2008.
