Laura Goldhamer

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Laura Goldhamer (banjo, guitar and vocal) is now living back in her home town, booking arts events (CONCERTS, GALLERY OPENINGS, A FILM SERIES, ETC.) at a beautiful old historical church in Capitol Hill, now called BROOKS CENTER FOR SPIRITUALITY. The venue is located at the corner of Williams and 14th St. (1400 Williams) and houses both small Do-It-Yourself-(DIY)-sized shows in the basement space, as well as large ones in the main space (with 600 seats and a balcony). PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE ALONG IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BOOKING A SHOW THERE. Graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in music and religion, where she participated in various musical ensembles, including conglomerations of the talented Joaquin Cotler (keys), Owen Roberts (drums), Greg Donahue (bass), and Caley Monahon-Ward (fiddle) [as appears on the videos for Born There and Little Baby], as well as Cassye Dunkhase (cello) and Chris McDonald (computer knobs and levers) [as appears on the video for Gently Now], with George Blake (flute) [appearing on the video for Float]. The most recent animating efforts have included puppets (i.e. the video for Lion)! Q: One might ask, why only one “M” in Goldhamer? Why not Laura Goldhammer? A: At the risk of confusing my family with just any old Goldhammer family, my grandfather took one M away. A2: A small elven man offered to turn straw into gold for me if I gave him my first born “M”. I was desperate, needed the gold, BAD, couldn’t guess his name and so that is how I came to be Laura Goldhamer.
