BAND
Fiance

Fiancé is the product of four distinct and prolific songwriters all intent on melding their individual styles to create their own unique brand of music. “The greatest part about this band” Patrick McGuire (keys/lead vocals) says “is that we all have such different musical influences, but they all work so well together.” The Denver based band was recently formed in 2006 when several songs that Patrick had written and posted online caught the ear of another local songwriter named Michael James (guitars). McGuire’s songs also intrigued an old friend named Tyler Reschke (bass/vocals) who he had met when they shared duties waiting tables at a local Olive Garden.

Patrick invited both Michael and Tyler over for a rehearsal session and the three realized there was an immediate chemistry. “The first couple songs we worked out came together so fast.” Michael remembers. “Things just clicked into place. It’s always such a cool feeling when you are playing with other musicians and they pull out this part that gets you amped and inspires you to do something great. That’s how it was the first few times we played together. It just worked on a lot of levels.” After several months of writing additional material and auditioning drummers, Fiancé met up with Chris Sturniolo (drums) and the line-up was complete.

“The first time I heard Pat’s songs, I really thought that they had a great melodic and catchy element to them.” Chris says describing Fiancé’s music. With influences ranging from Elliot Smith and The Beatles to U2 and Tool, Fiancé is not without musical diversity. The band’s music is reminiscent of early Radiohead and Coldplay without putting too much stock in the British falsetto sound. However, on some songs Fiancé finds itself leaning more towards up-tempo and driving rhythms drawing comparisons to bands like Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand.

In the months since Fiancé formed, they have gotten off to a quick start. The band recently released their debut EP titled ‘Girl From the Ivory Coast.’ With upbeat and pop-infused melodies of songs like ‘Something Blue’ to the slow building intensity of others like ‘Girl From the Ivory Coast’ the EP spans the full spectrum of what Fiancé’s music is all about. They have also begun to nail down their live show building fan base not only in their native Colorado, but regionally in surrounding states. Fiancé plans to support the new EP with live shows and touring throughout 2007. The band has also already begun work on songs for a follow up EP that could be released as soon as the end of 2007.
