BAND
Clark Warner

Crafted from a palette of musical directions, Warner’s sets create an atmosphere of minimal techno, broken beats, dub and deep house layered by ambient landscapes. His unique mix has been a progression of personal style since 1992 and continues to unfold.

Warner grew up on the outpouring of Detroit radio mix shows during the late 1980’s and at a young age connected to the Detroit underground. Exploring the city, he met friends and future colleagues such as Kenny Larkin, Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin at the beginning of their careers. Quickly, his behind the scenes participation with many of Detroit Techno’s innovative producers and labels as well as local bands set his professional path.

As a DJ he’s performed at international festivals such as Sonar, Mutek, Tribal Gathering, Detroit’s DEMF, Movement & Fuse-In, Nature One and at premier clubs from San Francisco to Berlin. Warner has held multiple club residencies in Detroit and was deeply involved in the production of many key Plus 8 and Minus events in the US Midwest.

Between 2000-2007 he co-hosted/produced the monthly radio profile segment ‘Focus Electronic’ with Liz Copeland on WDET-FM. The show aired over sixty editions and featured live interviews with innovators such as Jeff Mills, Derrick May and Mike Banks. Warner also co-curated Sacred & Profane: A Collection of Sonic Art, which gathered original sound works in a gallery setting, presented at the Detroit Artists Market and the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati.

Professionally over the past decade Warner managed Richie Hawtin’s Minus label, helping establish the careers of many artists and one of minimal techno’s most influential brands and sound. Today he is working with the digital download network leader Beatport and lives in Denver.
