BAND
Christines

The Christines surfaced in Denver in 1992, taking over venues such as Seven South (now the Hi-Dive), Skyline (burned down), and Bluebird Theater. They hit their stride after the release of their self-titled debut CD in 1994, which featured the successful single “Hollow” and helped build their reputation as excellent songwriters. Back in the days of metal, flannel, and grunge, The Christines were part of a new resurgence of psychedelic pop music in Denver (along with notable bands such as Twice Wilted and The Apples in Stereo). For a four-year span, The Christines were the reigning champs of shoegaze pop in Denver, earning them a coveted high profile spot opening for Oasis during their crowning “Definitely Maybe”- era prime. 1996 saw the release of the melodic and moody follow-up “Living At The Bottom Of The Sea”. A move to San Francisco in 1997 led to the recording of the band’s third album “Here It Comes Again” (recorded in 2000 but not released until 2008), a turn that saw the band head into edgy new wave and garage rock territory. After some lineup changes over the years, the original four members reunited back in their hometown Denver in 2005, playing together for the first time in 11 years. With one member still living in California, the band is not in full gear but makes the most of the time it gets every so often in Denver to work on new songs and play the rare show.
