Starting in the spring of 2002, White-Gluz performed extensively as a solo arist in Eastern Canada and the US using the name Bad Flirt. Bad Flirt shared the stage with One Candle Power and Jade Tree recording artist Onelinedrawing during an early performance in Montreal. Bad Flirt performed again with Onelinedrawing in 2003 and in the same year shared the stage with Victory Records’ The Sleeping, Bayside and Glasseater as well as the now defunct group The Unicorns.
Bad Flirt released an EP in the summer of 2003 entitled The August Issues; a tour followed the release of this album. Bad Flirt played shows with Relapse Records band Buried Inside, Astralwerks dance punk group VHS or BETA,and played at the 2003 edition of POP Montreal.
In 2004, White-Gluz took a break from touring and began working on her second EP. It was during this time the project expanded to a band. White-Gluz enlisted ex-A Vertical Mosaic members Heidi Donnely and Edmund Lam, as well as guitarist Marc Greenburg. The first release by the newly-formed band was 6 Ways To Break Your Heart, completed in 2005. This incarnation of Bad Flirt toured extensively throughout 2005. During the tour, the band appeared at The Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey, among other notable venues. The record was played on college, community and mainstream radio stations.
In the summer of 2005, Donnely, Lam, and Greenburg left the band amicably to pursue other projects. White-Gluz recruited guitarist Laura Lloyd (granddaugther of Canadian social-democratic politician Woodrow Lloyd) and keyboardist Evan Dubinsky to join the band. The group then played a number of shows along the east coast of Canada. The band also played the 2005 edition of POP Montreal and shared the stage with The Kills, Magneta Lane and Rogue Wave. During 2005, the band also composed an performed music for the Canadian film Breakfast of Imbeciles
In the winter of 2006, the band released a 7” on the New York City-based label Frigid Ember. The single, entitled “Head On,” was a poppy, dancy melange of 80’s pop jams and 90’s shoegazer riffs.Bad Flirt continued to perform at high profile shows with bands such as Say Hi To Your Mom and Sub Pop’s The Elected (members of Rilo Kiley). Following the release of the 7” in the summer of 2006, Bad Flirt performed at the Montreal Fringe Festival and recruited two new members: former professional skateboarder Matt Holden and Rafael De La Durantaye.
